In addition to the hemlock tree, there were five alder trees and one maple. The alders grow here like weeds, and as they age, they weaken and break off at the top. The one had already broken and dropped a large piece on my workshop, damaging the roof and ruining the gutter. It had to come done.
Our current location in the state of Washington is by far the northern most latitude where I have lived. The changes in sunrises and sunsets and the amount of daylight and darkness varies considerably here, like I have never experienced before.
I pressure washed the shop yesterday (Sunday). We are expecting sunny weather for another week so it gives us some time to get some painting done and make the shop match the house. Rose rolled the west side today. Some cut in and the grooves of the siding need touch up with my brush. The … Continue reading Started Painting Shop
The rotted wood was finally repaired this week and as soon as that was done we painted it and finally completed the job. That was a lot of work for both of us. I will be posting a more in-depth article on the painting project soon.

We removed the ones on the south side on the 4th, along with the railings on the side deck. The photo was taken before washing. There is … Continue reading Pressure Washed House Tonight
On January 11, 2018, I met Rose and Alicia at the Kitsap Humane Society to take a look at a dog named Angelica that Rose spotted on their webpage. I was there on time, and they were late, almost so late that we would miss adopting her until the next day. Luckily, the staff was nice enough … Continue reading Luna, Our Newest Family Member
Today was a dry day so we pruned the Blackberries on the north boundary of the property. Since there was so much waste I dug a small pit with the backhoe and we burned the trimmings. All three of us worked this effort. I also pulled out a stump and a couple of plants to … Continue reading Pruning the Blackberries
So the power was off yesterday for a few hours and the generator was on (yes, we have a whole house automatic-starting generator that came with the house). When the power came back on everything except for our cable modem was ok. It must have received a power surge. I picked up a new one … Continue reading Modem Damaged
